A sophisticated appetizer combining juicy pears, creamy blue cheese, and a touch of honey. Perfect for elegant parties or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized ripe pears (Bosc, Bartlett, or Anjou)
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese (Gorgonzola or Roquefort)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (toasted)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Wash the pears thoroughly and pat them dry. Cut them in half lengthwise and use a melon baller or small spoon to scoop out the seeds, creating a small cavity in the center.
  2. Brush the cut sides of the pears with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the blue cheese and chopped walnuts. Stir until well incorporated.
  4. Spoon the blue cheese mixture into the cavities of each pear half, packing it gently to ensure it stays in place.
  5. Drizzle the stuffed pears with honey and sprinkle fresh thyme leaves on top for added flavor and visual appeal.
  6. Optional: Place the stuffed pears on a baking sheet and warm them in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-7 minutes to soften the cheese slightly.
  7. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Choose firm but ripe pears for the best texture. Toast the walnuts for enhanced flavor. Customize the cheese or nuts to suit your preferences. Serve slightly chilled or at room temperature for the best flavor.
