Crispy, golden mozzarella sticks with oozing, stretchy cheese that are easy to make at home. Perfect for snacks, parties, or late-night cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Mozzarella cheese sticks (pre-cut string cheese)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Optional: Marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or sriracha mayo for dipping

Instructions

  1. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip in the egg wash, and coat in the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat the egg wash and breadcrumb coating for a double layer.
  3. Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  5. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Freeze the coated mozzarella sticks thoroughly to prevent the cheese from leaking during frying. Use a thermometer to maintain the oil temperature at 350Β°F for best results.
