Hi, I’m Blair

Hey there! I’m Blair Thompson, a passionate home cook and recipe developer living in Nashville, Tennessee with my husband Jake and our two rescue dogs, Biscuit and Honey. I believe that great food doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to be made with love, good ingredients, and a dash of creativity. From quick weeknight dinners to weekend baking projects, I’m here to help you create memorable meals that bring people together.

🏠My Journey

My Story

Blair Recipes started in the heart of rural Kentucky, where I spent my childhood summers at my grandmother Meemaw Lou’s farmhouse. Her kitchen was the soul of our family—a place where flour-dusted counters, the smell of buttermilk biscuits in the oven, and the sound of cast iron sizzling on the stove created the soundtrack to my happiest memories.

“Sugar, the secret ingredient ain’t in the spice rack—it’s the love you put into every dish you make.”

— Meemaw Lou

Meemaw Lou taught me that good food wasn’t about fancy ingredients or complicated techniques—it was about understanding your ingredients, respecting traditional methods, and never being afraid to make a dish your own. She’d let me stand on a wooden stool beside her, measuring flour with coffee cups and learning that a pinch of this and a dash of that could transform simple ingredients into something magical.

After college, I moved to Nashville to work in food marketing, but I found myself constantly recreating Meemaw Lou’s recipes for friends and coworkers. What started as bringing homemade treats to the office quickly evolved into weekend cooking parties where I’d teach others the comfort food classics I’d grown up with. By 2019, people kept asking me to start a food blog—and honestly, I couldn’t resist the idea of sharing these time-tested family recipes with a wider community.

Blair Recipes became my love letter to home cooking—a place where traditional techniques meet modern kitchens, and where every recipe tells a story about the people and places that shaped our relationship with food.

My Approach

I believe that the best meals come from understanding your ingredients, respecting time-honored techniques, and never being afraid to make a recipe uniquely yours.

🏡

Accessible

Using ingredients you can find at any grocery store, with techniques anyone can master

🤝

Authentic

Honoring traditional recipes while encouraging personal touches and family variations

❤️

Comforting

Creating meals that bring people together and make any house feel like home

My approach centers around building confidence in the kitchen through reliable recipes and clear instructions. I test every recipe at least three times in my own kitchen before sharing it, and I always include tips for customization and troubleshooting because I believe cooking should be joyful, not stressful.

🎸Life Outside Cooking

Beyond the Kitchen

When I’m not recipe testing or writing, you’ll find me exploring Nashville’s incredible food scene with Jake, hiking the trails around Percy Warner Park with Biscuit and Honey, or playing guitar on our front porch. I’m also a certified food safety specialist and volunteer with local community kitchens, because I believe everyone deserves access to nourishing, delicious food.
