This sangria combines the crispness of apples, the warmth of cinnamon, and the sweetness of apple cider for the ultimate fall beverage. Perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (1 liter) apple cider
  • 750 ml white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) brandy (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) maple syrup or honey
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • 2 apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the apples and oranges, leaving the skins on for added color and nutrients.
  2. In a large pitcher, pour in apple cider and white wine.
  3. Add brandy if using, and stir in maple syrup or honey. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  4. Drop in cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise (optional).
  5. Add the sliced apples and oranges to the pitcher and gently stir to combine.
  6. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
  7. Serve chilled in glasses, ensuring each serving includes fruit slices. Garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

[‘Chilling the sangria overnight enhances the flavors.’, ‘Avoid using ground spices as they can make the sangria cloudy.’, ‘Adjust the sweetness based on the type of apple cider used.’, ‘For a non-alcoholic version, replace wine with sparkling apple cider or ginger ale.’]
