A comforting and easy-to-make creamy Irish coffee topped with homemade whipped cream, perfect for cozy evenings or relaxing moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ounces freshly brewed hot coffee (medium or dark roast)
  • 1 to 1.5 ounces Irish whiskey (e.g., Jameson)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons brown sugar or Demerara sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (36% fat), chilled
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew 6 ounces (180 ml) of freshly brewed hot coffee using your preferred method (French press, drip, or espresso). Keep it strong and hot.
  2. Stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons of brown or Demerara sugar while the coffee is still hot until completely dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  3. Pour 1 to 1.5 ounces (30-45 ml) of Irish whiskey into the sweetened coffee and stir gently.
  4. In a cold mixing bowl, pour 1/4 cup (60 ml) of heavy cream. Add a splash of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if desired. Whisk with a hand mixer or by hand until soft peaks form (about 2-3 minutes with a mixer).
  5. Pour the coffee and whiskey mixture into a heatproof glass, leaving room at the top. Hold a spoon upside down just above the coffee surface and gently spoon the whipped cream over the back of the spoon so it floats on top.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy the creamy layer as it melts into the warm coffee.

Notes

Use freshly brewed coffee that is hot but not boiling to avoid bitterness. Chill the bowl and cream before whipping for best results. Use the back of a spoon to gently float the whipped cream on top. Adjust sugar and whiskey to taste. For dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with chilled coconut cream or almond milk whipped cream.
