A quick and easy recipe for crispy smashed potatoes coated in flavorful everything seasoning, perfect as a snack, side, or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs (700 g) small potatoes (baby Yukon Gold or red potatoes preferred)
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) olive oil
  • 2 tbsp everything seasoning (sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, onion flakes, sea salt)
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly, leaving the skins on.
  3. Place potatoes in a pot, cover with cold water, add a pinch of salt, bring to a boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender but not falling apart. Test by poking with a fork.
  4. Drain well and let cool slightly to dry the outside.
  5. Place potatoes on a baking sheet. Using a potato masher or the bottom of a glass, gently smash each potato until about ½ inch (1.3 cm) thick, being careful to keep them intact.
  6. Drizzle olive oil evenly over the smashed potatoes, coating every crevice.
  7. Sprinkle everything seasoning generously over the potatoes and add extra sea salt if desired.
  8. Roast in the oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning, until golden and crispy.
  9. Remove from oven and garnish with chopped parsley or chives if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan to avoid steaming. Dry potatoes thoroughly after boiling for best crispiness. Flip potatoes halfway through roasting for even browning. Use a convection oven if available for extra crispiness. Leftovers can be reheated in a hot oven or air fryer to restore crispiness; avoid microwaving.
