A cozy and indulgent oatmeal bowl perfect for romantic mornings, combining creamy oats, fresh berries, vanilla, cinnamon, and dark chocolate for a comforting and special breakfast experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats (old-fashioned preferred)
  • 1 ½ cups (360ml) milk or milk alternative (unsweetened coconut milk recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut cream or heavy cream (optional but recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup (about 75g) fresh berries (raspberries or strawberries preferred; frozen berries okay)
  • ¼ cup (45g) dark chocolate chunks or chips (70% cacao or higher)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (toasted almonds or hazelnuts)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients: Measure out rolled oats, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Prepare toppings—washed berries, chopped nuts, and chocolate chunks.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine oats, milk, cinnamon, and salt. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until oats soften and absorb most liquid.
  3. Stir in maple syrup and coconut cream or heavy cream. Cook another 2 minutes, stirring gently to achieve creamy texture.
  4. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice if needed.
  5. Spoon hot oatmeal into serving bowls, leaving room for toppings.
  6. Top with fresh berries, chopped nuts, and dark chocolate chunks. The heat will gently melt the chocolate.
  7. Serve immediately, optionally drizzling extra maple syrup on top.

Notes

For dairy-free, use coconut cream and plant-based milk; for gluten-free, use certified gluten-free oats. Add a splash of milk if oats get too thick. Cook on medium or medium-low heat to avoid scorching. Add sweetener after cooking to prevent bitterness. Fresh berries and toasted nuts enhance texture and flavor.
