  • 3 oz (85 g) cherry jello mix
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold cherry juice (100% juice, no added sugar preferred)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) vodka
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • Optional: fresh cherries or maraschino cherries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pour the cherry jello mix into a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add 1 cup (240 ml) of boiling water and stir vigorously for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved with no granules.
  3. Stir in 1 cup (240 ml) of cold cherry juice and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of fresh lime juice.
  4. Slowly pour in 1 cup (240 ml) of vodka, stirring gently to combine without creating bubbles.
  5. Spoon or pour the mixture into small shot cups or lined mini muffin tins, filling each about 3/4 full.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably 3, until fully set and firm to the touch. Avoid freezing.
  7. Just before serving, top each shot with a fresh cherry or maraschino cherry for garnish.

Notes

Use boiling water to dissolve gelatin powder completely before adding alcohol to ensure proper setting. Avoid stirring vigorously after adding vodka to prevent bubbles. Chill shots undisturbed for best texture. Do not freeze to avoid rubbery texture. If shots are not firm enough, reduce vodka by 1/4 cup (60 ml) next time. Fresh lime juice is critical to balance sweetness.
