A refreshing and easy-to-make summer drink combining fresh strawberries and lemons for a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 grams) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 4 medium lemons, juiced (about 1 cup or 240 ml lemon juice)
  • 3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated sugar
  • 4 cups (960 ml) cold water
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse, hull, and slice about 1 pound (450 grams) of fresh strawberries.
  2. Place the sliced strawberries in a blender and pulse until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Optionally strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture.
  3. Juice 4 medium lemons using a citrus juicer, removing any seeds.
  4. In a large pitcher, combine the strawberry puree, lemon juice, and 3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated sugar. Stir well until the sugar dissolves. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  5. Pour in 4 cups (960 ml) of cold water and stir to combine. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill and let flavors meld. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint or lemon slices if desired.

Notes

Use ripe, firm strawberries for best flavor. To dissolve sugar more easily, warm a small amount of water before mixing. For a smoother lemonade, strain the strawberry puree. Add ice cubes or freeze lemonade in ice trays to keep it cold without diluting. Variations include using honey or agave syrup instead of sugar, adding fresh herbs like mint or basil, or substituting sparkling water for a fizzy version.
