A fun and easy snack recipe that transforms pretzel rods into colorful lightsabers using candy melts, perfect for kids’ parties and playdates.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large pretzel rods
  • 10 oz (280g) assorted candy melts (red, blue, green, purple)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (can substitute with coconut oil)
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your workspace by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Set out pretzel rods, candy melts, sprinkles or edible glitter, and measure vegetable oil.
  2. Melt the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring in between until mostly melted. Stir in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to thin the mixture until glossy and smooth.
  3. Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds into the melted candy, letting excess drip back into the bowl for an even coating.
  4. Before the candy sets, sprinkle on stars, glitter, or colored sugar if desired.
  5. Place dipped pretzels on the baking sheet and let the candy harden at room temperature for 10–15 minutes. Optionally, refrigerate for 5–7 minutes to speed up setting, watching to avoid condensation.

Notes

Use vegetable oil to thin candy melts for smooth coating. Dip pretzels two-thirds to avoid sticky thick layers. Use parchment paper instead of wax paper to prevent sticking. Keep candy melts warm by reheating in short bursts if needed. Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Avoid refrigerating to prevent sticky coating and do not freeze.
