A visually stunning and delicious Caprese wreath platter featuring fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and basil, perfect as an elegant appetizer for festive occasions.

Ingredients

  • Fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini) or sliced mozzarella
  • Cherry or grape tomatoes (red and yellow varieties)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic glaze
  • Flaky sea salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Optional: toasted pine nuts
  • Optional: thinly sliced prosciutto
  • Optional: crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Rinse tomatoes and basil well. Slice cherry or grape tomatoes in half. Slice mozzarella into bite-sized pieces or drain bocconcini balls.
  2. Arrange basil leaves in a circular wreath shape on a large serving platter, overlapping slightly to form a full green base.
  3. Alternate placing tomato halves and mozzarella pieces around the basil base, creating a colorful ring.
  4. Sprinkle toasted pine nuts or scatter thin prosciutto slices around the wreath if using.
  5. Lightly sprinkle flaky sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the wreath.
  6. Drizzle extra virgin olive oil generously over the tomatoes and mozzarella.
  7. Drizzle balsamic glaze artistically over the wreath using a spoon or squeeze bottle.
  8. Add a few whole basil leaves on top for extra color and fragrance.
  9. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to one hour before serving.

Notes

Keep ingredients fresh and assemble just before serving for best presentation. Pat basil leaves dry to avoid sogginess. Avoid slicing tomatoes too far in advance to prevent watery texture. Adjust salt and balsamic glaze to taste. Optional toppings like pine nuts and prosciutto add texture and flavor contrast.
